RTP Data Methodology

Where the numbers come from

Live Slot RTP receives game statistics from a third-party data service connected to multiple online casinos. The feed provides observed RTP across tracked bets, alongside a listed base RTP for comparison.

The data combines activity across participating casinos and may include different RTP configurations for the same game. Individual casino identities and bet counts are not provided.

Hourly updates and rolling periods

We schedule hourly imports to retrieve the latest available figures. If an import fails, we retain the previous successful values until an update completes.

Retrieval timestamps show when we collected the data. They do not indicate when each underlying bet took place.

The 24-hour, 7-day and 30-day figures represent overlapping rolling periods. They provide different views of recent performance rather than independent samples or a historical timeline.

Observed RTP and listed base RTP

Observed RTP measures the proportion of stakes returned as winnings within the tracked sample. It is calculated as total returns divided by total stakes, multiplied by 100.

Listed base RTP is the reference figure supplied for the game. It is not confirmation of the RTP configuration used by every casino offering that title.

Our data service supplies the calculated percentages. We do not receive the underlying stakes and returns needed to independently reproduce those calculations.

Running hot, below base and near base

We compare observed RTP with the listed base using a threshold of 1.5 percentage points:

  • Running hot: observed RTP is more than 1.5 percentage points above the listed base.
  • Below base: observed RTP is more than 1.5 percentage points below the listed base.
  • Near base: observed RTP is within 1.5 percentage points of the listed base.

These labels describe recent tracked results. They do not measure statistical significance, predict future payouts or recommend when to gamble.

Rankings and comparisons

Observed RTP rankings use the selected 24-hour, 7-day or 30-day period. Base RTP rankings use the listed reference figure.

A higher observed RTP means a greater proportion of tracked stakes was returned during that period. It does not establish that a game offers better odds on the next spin.

Because bet counts and sample sizes are unavailable, we cannot calculate uncertainty or confirm that every game’s sample is directly comparable.

Game and provider records

We standardise recognised provider-name variations to keep their games grouped consistently.

Potential duplicate records and records that cannot be imported reliably are held for review. Distinct game versions retain separate pages where they can be identified.

Understanding the limits

Recent RTP can move substantially, particularly when large wins affect a smaller sample. Figures may also be influenced by the mix of casinos, game configurations and activity included in the feed.

Our charts compare the available rolling-period figures. They do not represent a continuous history of RTP movement.

Use these statistics to understand past tracked performance. A game running above its base is not guaranteed to continue doing so, and a game running below its base is not due to pay.
